Our experience was the exact opposite of what I read in a number of reviews. However, it was a cool day and our twins were celebrating their birthday.so we went anyway. I read the reviews before going and almost did not go as a result. We spent the afternoon at the Coco Key indoor water park near Boston and had a great time. We spent around $700 for a 2 day trip after everything was said and done, with a hotel bill over $300, gas, food, and entertainment for the kids while the water park was closed. Our son loved it, so thats all that matters, but honestly youre better off going to somewhere like Water Wizz in the summer, its cheaper to get in, you can bring your own food, and if youre local you dont get hosed by the hotel. Over all it was okay, I think if we werent made to feel like the hotel was trying to suck us dry of our money, and the whole in house pool restriction thing was a little ridiculous in my opinion, we might of had a better time. My 4 year old kept getting scratched from it and we had to eventually slip it off and put it back on, ours however were put on too tight and we couldnt do that. It is a little bit more crowded right when they open, but it dies down after dinner.Īlso, once you have that wrist band put on for the waterpark, youre supposed to keep it on the whole stay, which is kind of annoying. We deliberatly planned to stay during the week after school vacation because we have two small children (4 year old and 9 month old) and didnt want to deal with kids running wild and worrying about our kids safety, and the crowd wasnt really that bad. So since the arcade wasnt open all day we ended up dropping $100 at the Boston Aquarium, which is money that either didnt have to be spent or could have been spent with in CoCo Key. The arcade associated with CoCo Key has the same hours of operation as the water park, and it is 3-4 X more expensive than your local arcade (it was 30 tickets for 1 tiny snack sized sour patch kids treat, which is normally like 5-10 tickets at Ryan Family, and say your average winning is around 200-300 tickets, you can see how this can get expensive). I have never stayed anywhere that the hotel charged its own guests to use the in house pool, never mind put a time limit on it. The hotel CHARGED THE GUESTS to use the regular pool, and there was a time limit of 1 hour, and if you had children family swim started at noon. They charge you $25 per item per day on things like a mini fridge and microwave (that would have been $100 alone for those items for our 2 night stay), it was $8.00 for a continental breakfast for an adult (cereal, bagels, muffins) and an extra $3 if you wanted scrambled eggs. The things that bothered me, and kind of took some of the enjoyment out of the trip was the hotel nickle and dime-ing you for things that normally (atleast in my expiereince) are complimentary. I think most of the complaints about the hotel were from when the Sheraton owned the hotel, but now that the Crowne Plaza owns it, I found it to be very clean, updated and the staff was very polite and accomodating. We just stayed at the CoCo Key in Danvers this past Monday & Tuesday and overall it was nice.
